Visitor Guide & What to Know
While many suburban lots offer pre-cut pumpkins stacked on pallets, nothing beats the excitement of walking into a working field with clippers and cutting your pumpkin directly off the vine. U-pick fields allow you to harvest Cinderella pumpkins, Blue Doll heirlooms, white Casper pumpkins, and miniature gourds.
π‘ Essential Planning Tips
Bring heavy-duty garden shears or hand clippers; farm-provided cutters are often in high demand.
Look for a firm, green stem at least 2 inches long β never carry a heavy pumpkin by the stem as it may snap.
Wear work gloves β pumpkin vines are prickly and can irritate sensitive skin.
Farms typically charge by weight (averaging $0.59 to $0.89 per pound) or by size rings ($5 for small, $12 for medium, $18 for jumbo).
Are wagons provided to carry pumpkins from the field?
Most premier farms provide complimentary red wagons or wheelbarrows, though they can be scarce during peak Saturday afternoons. You may also bring your own folding wagon.
